Role Summary/Purpose: The Server Virtualization generalist will devise development, delivery and communication for server solutions in the compute organization. This individual will be the technology expert for virtualization and hosting of server architectures.
Essential Responsibilities: The Generalist : Server Virtualization role will:
Be a technology team member in the compute and storage and data protection space for GE Capital India
Have ownership of the deployment, delivery, consumption and adoption of Virtualization technology
Responsible for Server Virtualization and is a core contributor to the development and deliveryof the technology stack
Work closely with internal IT clients to understand their compute needs, gaps in current offerings and work to develop solutions to meet their business needs
Work closely with the Compute teams to help to define and shape the technical strategy, direction, feature priorities and roadmaps, ensure viability of technology solutions
Engagement with the Run team to help with the deployment and refresh of services such as P2V migrations and tech refreshes, virtualization farm leveling and transition of new server and service builds into production
Identify, recommend andimplement improvement projects to increase productivity reduce cycle and/or increase quality
Automate the deployment of operating systems and in guest automation
Implement OEM best practices within environment
Lead projects and programs to drive efficiencies
Responsible for Capacity Managementof Virtualized compute stack
Conduct project reviews, feasibility, cost benefit analysis, prioritization, initiation, execution for all project related work related to assigned programs and projects
Provide expertise and input to the virtualization strategy and technology development for incorporation into the overall compute Infrastructure roadmap and strategic plan
Provide technical expertise, guidance and consultation to the RUN team
Advanced troubleshooting and monitoring of service systems to ensure adequate SLA, capacity and expansion requirements
Manage project team resources to deploy, and manage projects to deliver solutions and services
Use Project Management Methodology and LEAN Six Sigma quality tools and rigor in the deployment of technology and services
Abide by all GE Capital and local policies and procedures including but not limited to Integrity, Diversity, Proprietary Information, Conflict of Interest and EHS
Qualifications/Requirements:
: Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems / Computer Science or a related discipline ( OR minimum 8 years of IT work experience)
: Strong Knowledge and Experience on VMWare Esx and GSX servers and tools like P2V/ Virtual center
: Good Understanding of trouble shooting and Linux and Windows Commands
: Strong concepts of TCP / IP
: VMware Certified Professional or equivalent working experience
: Demonstrated ability to have completed multiple, complex technical projects
